Claude Motion prompts that work
Good motion requests share four things: a length, a format, a source file and a rule about what must not change. These ten are free to copy. Swap the file names for yours.
1. Explainer from a document
Read docs/pricing-update.md fully. Make a 45-second landscape explainer in the Quiet Keynote style. One idea per scene, 12 words or fewer on screen, keep every number exactly as written. Show me the storyboard table before you build.2. Metrics review with real charts
Turn q3-metrics.csv into a 30-second Ledger-style video. One bar chart per metric, highlight only the best quarter in the accent colour, and end with a single takeaway sentence. Do not invent values that are not in the file.3. Lesson from notes
Use my notes in lesson-04.md to make a 60-second Chalk Lesson video: numbered steps on the left, one worked example on the right, then a recap scene repeating the three key terms.4. Launch teaser
Make a 15-second vertical (1080×1920) Kinetic Poster teaser for the feature described in CHANGELOG.md. Hard cuts, one word group per beat, final frame is the product name and the date.5. Architecture walkthrough
Read ARCHITECTURE.md and draw the request path as a Blueprint-style diagram that builds stroke by stroke over 40 seconds. Label each service after its line lands.6. Changelog as a terminal demo
Turn the last release notes into a 25-second Terminal-style clip: type the upgrade command, print three changed lines, highlight the breaking change in the accent colour.7. Meeting notes to a recap
Summarise notes/2026-10-06-sync.md as a 30-second Paper Editorial recap: three decisions, one owner per decision, one open question. Quote names exactly.8. Blog post to a social cut
Take the post at content/why-we-rebuilt.md and cut a 20-second Sunrise-style clip with the three strongest claims. Each claim needs its supporting number on screen.9. Fix timing after preview
Scene 3 feels rushed. Give it 2 more seconds, delay the chart labels until the bars finish, and raise the root duration to match. Re-run the check.10. Apply my brand
Create a new style from brand.md: use our colours as the tokens, add our font with @font-face from assets/fonts, keep the Quiet Keynote motion rules. Save it as styles/our-brand.md and rebuild the last video with it.
Why these work
- A length forces choices. Thirty seconds is about eight scenes; the agent has to pick what matters.
- “Exactly as written” protects your numbers. Without it, models round and paraphrase.
- Asking for the storyboard first lets you fix the story before any animation exists.
- Naming a style removes a hundred small design decisions. Browse them in the style gallery.
The style names refer to the styles in MotionKit. With the built-in Motion feature, describe the look in your own words instead.
